ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fourth-year defensive specialist/libero
Rachel Katzenberger '19 of the Elmira College women's volleyball team was recognized on Wednesday as EC's representative on the Empire 8 Conference Sportswoman of the Year Team.
As a member of the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year Team, Katzenberger was recognized for "Competing with Honor and Integrity," which the conference emphasizes as an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission.
In her final collegiate season, Katzenberger appeared in all 32 matches for the Soaring Eagles. In 102 sets, she amassed 197 digs for a per-set average of 1.93. She logged double-digit digs on seven occasions, including six matches with a season-high-tying 12 digs. She also produced 13 assists, six kills, one service ace and one block. For her career, the High Bridge, New Jersey, native recorded 666 digs with 33 kills, 26 aces, and five blocks, while seeing time throughout the lineup as a defensive specialist, libero, and as an outside hitter.
