Louisa Lippiatt Durnell '18 had a hand in five of EC's seven goals scored in Saturday's 7-0 drubbing of ECAC West foe, Neumann University. She tied her single-game highs with two goals and three assists, resulting in a career-best five points against the Knights. Additionally, Lippiatt Durnell fueled Elmira's power-play unit by recording a point on all four of EC's power-play scores. After going 0-for-3 in the season-opener against Neumann the day prior, Elmira finished 4-for-9 with the extra skater in the throttling of the Knights thanks to the scoring prowess of the East Sussex, England, native.
The third-year forward began her scoring barrage when she picked up the game-winning tally on the power play only 52 seconds into the first period for the Soaring Eagles' first goal. She also found the back of the net at the 14:40 mark of the second period, at the time vaulting the Purple and Gold to a 5-0 lead. Lippiat Durnell added a trio helpers to her point total, one in each period, with all three coming on the power-play advantage as well.
Not only are Lippiatt Durnell's five points a new career high, but they are also the most by a Soaring Eagle since December 7, 2014, when former AHCA National Player of the Year Ashley Ryan '15 logged five against SUNY Potsdam. Just two games into the 2016-17 season, Lippiatt Durnell's highlight-reel effort has her tied for fourth in the nation in points per game at 2.50.
The third-ranked Elmira women continue play inside the ECAC West with a pair of home games against Chatham University on Friday, November 11th, and Saturday, November 12th, at the Murray Athletic Center. Friday's series-opener is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
