Hoboken, NJ – EC Men's Soccer tasted defeat for the first time in almost a month as they fell to the Ducks of Stevens Tech. The contest featured the number five nationally ranked Ducks and the number ten regionally ranked Soaring Eagles. With the loss Elmira drops to second place in the Empire 8.
EC played the Ducks even for the first 43 minutes of the contest. With just 1:12 remaining in the first half, Elmira would allow the first goal of the game. Stevens Tech. would carry the lead into halftime.
The second half would be a tough one for Elmira as they would let in four goals en route to a 5-0 loss. A mental lapse to start the second half led to two goals within the first four minutes of play. EC would settle-in and play competitively for the next 25 minutes until Stevens scored two goals at the 73:47 and 76:58 minute marks.
First year keeper
Alex Todd '13 (Elmira, NY -- Notre Dame) got the start today for the Soaring Eagles. He made four saves in 90 minutes of action. Elmira will look to rebound from today's loss as they host SUNY IT at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19th in a rematch of last year's ECAC Upstate Semifinal.
