Elmira, NY – EC Men's Soccer opened the 2010 season with an impressive 7-0 victory over visiting non-conference opponent Bard College. The Soaring Eagles dominated the game from the opening whistle and never let their guard down. EC out-shot the Raptors of Bard 33-10.

Second year standout Alex Poole '13 (Chilmark, MA -- Martha's Vineyard) opened the day with a goal at the 21:44 minute mark. Assisting on the goal was first year player Doug Adjei '14 (Reistertown, MD -- Loyola Prep). Adjei would find the net a little over four minutes later as he would rip a shot off a cross from fellow classmate Ernesto Valverde '14 (East Hampton, NY -- East Hampton). EC would enter the first half with a 2-0 lead.

The second half would be filled with EC goal after EC goal. Erik Lee '13 (Suffield, CT -- Suffield) scored back to back goals to open the half. He would notch his first goal on a penalty kick at the 54:15 mark as he buried the shot in the lower right corner. His second goal would be off a rebound from Poole at the 64:10 mark.

With a 4-0 lead EC was not done yet as Poole would bend a free kick into the upper left corner just outside the eighteen. First year players Jackson Correia '14 (West Simsbury, CT -- Masters School) and Josh Rumble '14 (Yorktown, VA -- York) would also tally scores for the Purple and Gold. Harrison Lewandowski '13 (Midland Park, NJ -- Paramus Catholic) and Correia would pick up assists on the goals respectively.

Elmira placed two keepers in net in today's contest. Getting the start was third year standout Jared Micheller '12 (Avon, CT -- Winchendon School). He would record 5 saves in just under 77 minutes of play. Alex Todd '13 (Elmira, NY -- Notre Dame) made his debut in net for the Purple and Gold. The Elmira native recorded 1 save in 13 minutes of action.

EC Men's Soccer will look to pick up their second win of the season as they travel to take on D'Youville College on Wednesday, September 8th at 4:00 p.m. in Buffalo, NY.
