Box Score Canton, NY – The Elmira College Men's Soccer team got back on the winning trail as they dominated the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton, 3-1, Monday evening. The Soaring Eagles improve to 9-1 overall, while the Kangaroos fall to 3-6-1 overall.
The first half started off well for the Soaring Eagles as they got on the board at the 16:57 mark.
Andre Germano '15 took the ball and passed it up to
Ryan Limero '14 who shot it over top of the Canton goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead. Although EC controlled the shots in the first half, 8-4, the score remained 1-0 going into halftime.
EC continued to control the game in the second half with two more goals at the 60
th and 87
th minutes.
Germano scored both times in the second half with
Erik Bertsch '14 and
Tom Makowiec '16 each registering assists. Canton finally got on the board at the 88:19 mark with Francesco Cardillo heading it in for the goal. Although Canton would try to make a comeback, the EC defense stayed strong and held on to the 3-1 victory.
Jordan Dougherty '16 recorded five saves in net for EC, while William Banahene recorded 11 stops in net for SUNY Canton.
The EC Men's Soccer squad will return to action Saturday, October 6
th when they host Ithaca College in a conference showdown on Elmira College Parent's Weekend. Game is set to start at Noon on Campus Field.
