Box Score Washington, PA – Ashley Palmer '16 scored two goals in the game for EC, but it would not be enough to beat the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson College falling 5-2 Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Presidents to 11-7 overall and 4-3 in the Empire 8, while the Soaring Eagles fall to 5-9 overall and 1-5 in conference.
The Presidents set the tempo early by taking control on offense and outshooting the Soaring Eagles 11-1. Washington & Jefferson first got on the board at the 17:15 mark when Catherine Beaudoin passed it in from the corner to Amanda Pflumm who then passed it up to Erin Barno for the score. At the 29th minute W&J got its second score when Beaudoin passed it from the end line to Jennifer Marabella who put it passed EC goalie

Palmer scored her first goal of the game helping EC stay at 2-1 going into halftime.
In the second half Barno and Marabella stepped up the play for the Presidents. Barno took command of the offense scoring two goals at the 38:56 and 40:59 minute marks for the 4-1 lead. EC was able to narrow it down in the 48th minute when
Sarah Harden-Marshall '14 passed it up to
Palmer helping her score the second goal. However, later in the half the Presidents were able to extend it again when Marabella one-timed it from the left side with Pflumm assisting on the play. Kira Bunker earned the win recording three saves on the day, while
Thomas suffered the loss recording nine saves.
The EC Field Hockey returns to action on tomorrow when the team takes on Stevens Institute of Technology in a conference showdown starting at 4:00 p.m.
