Women’s Volleyball Set for ECAC Championships at NYU This Weekend



New York, NY – The Elmira College Women's Volleyball team will travel to NYU this weekend to take part in the 2012 ECAC Championships. Play begins Saturday at 1:00 p.m. as two seed Elmira takes on three seed Rutgers-Camden.

If the Soaring Eagles win they will take on the winner of the first semifinal match which could be host one seed NYU, four seed Kean, or five seed SUNY Potsdam. The championship match will take place at 4:00 p.m.

Elmira has had another successful season under Head Coach Rhonda Faunce in her 25th season at the helm. The Purple and Gold finished the season first in the Empire 8 conference with a 6-1 mark. The team has an overall record of 22-12, their third consecutive season with at least 22 victories.

The Soaring Eagles are led by three All-Conference honorees in Sasha Zavadska '13, Taryn Rumsey '14 and Molly Short '13. Zavadska earned First Team All-Empire 8 accolades, while Rumsey and Short earned a spot on the second team.
