Rochester, NY – The Elmira College Men's Volleyball team swept No. 12 SUNY New Paltz (25-20, 25-20, 25-15) on the second day of the UVC Crossover hosted by Nazareth College. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 16-11 overall and 6-4 in conference competition, while the loss drops the Hawks to 12-4 overall and 6-3 in the United Volleyball Conference.
EC got off to a great start taking the first two sets, 25-20, to seize momentum early on. The Purple and Gold put away an excellent Hawk squad, dominating the third set 25-15 to seize the sweep.

Mike Stianche '15 (Bethlehem, PA -- Bethlehem Catholic) pounded out nine kills and recorded five digs.
Michael Vellutato '14 (Topanga, CA -- Redondo Union) proved to be an important player on both sides of the ball as he dished out 27 assists, while tallying a team-high eight digs and four blocks (2 solo, 2 block assists).
EC returns to action Saturday when it travels to Kenosha, Wisconsin to take part in the Carthage-Milwaukee School of Engineering Tournament. Elmira opens action against Rust College Saturday at noon.
