Men’s Soccer Completes 2-1 Comeback Against Pitt Bradford

Box Score Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Men's Soccer team used two second half goals to upend visiting University of Pittsburgh at Bradford 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Campus Field. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 6-0, while the loss drops the Panthers to 1-5.

Pitt Bradford got on the board first in the 23rd minute when Bryan Nelson took the ball down the right sideline playing a cross to Tyler Hinojosa in the middle. Hinojosa cut back and nailed a shot into the right corner of the net. The Purple and Gold outshot Pitt Bradford 19-2, including a 10-2 shots on goal advantage yet the Panthers held a 1-0 lead at intermission.

EC continued to dominate in the shots department as it outshot Pitt Bradford 23-3 and held a 10-2 shots on goal advantage once again in the second stanza. In the 62nd minute Tre Ming '16 (Devonshire, Bermuda -- South Kent School) took the ball down the right sideline sending a cross to a cutting Andre Germano '15 (Campinas, Brazil -- Winchendon School) who one-timed a low liner into the right side of the net.

Both teams tried to break the tie over the next 20 minutes and in the 83rd minute the Soaring Eagles found the eventual game-winner. Ernesto Valverde '14 (East Hampton, NY -- East Hampton) darted down the center of the field with the ball and fed a lob to Ryan Limero '14 (Belchertown, MA --Dublin School) who beat the keeper to the near post.

Kevin Huggins '16 (Cooperstown, NY -- Cooperstown) started playing the first half and making one save, while Jordan Dougherty '16 (Reading, PA -- Muhlenberg) stopped two shots in net in the second half for EC. Adam Forster recorded 18 saves between the posts for the Panthers.

The Elmira College Men's Soccer team continues its home stand Tuesday when it squares off with SUNY Institute of Technology at 4:00 p.m. on Campus Field.
