Box Score

Edwardsville, PA – Andre Germano '15 and Ryan Limero '14 each tallied three points apiece as the Men's Soccer team downed host Wilkes University 5-0 Tuesday evening. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 8-0 on the season, while the loss drops the Colonels to 3-4.

After a foul committed in the box in the 13th minute by a Wilkes defender, Germano converted a penalty kick for the early 1-0 lead. Five minutes later Limero played a beautiful corner kick where Alexander Poole '13 redirected it with a header into the back of the net. EC found its third score of the half early in the 21st minute on a miscue by a Colonels defender that skipped past keeper Dave Marr into the goal. The Soaring Eagles outshot Wilkes 12-6 including an 8-2 shots on goal advantage, taking a 3-0 lead into intermission.

The Purple and Gold kept the intensity strong, scoring 10 minutes into the second half. Germano crossed a pass to Limero who beat Marr just inside the right post. EC added an extra insurance goal late when Doug Adjei '14 found the back of the net for his first goal of the season.

Overall, Elmira held a 13-4 shots on goal advantage in the contest. Kevin Huggins '16 stopped four shots in his second shutout of the season for EC. Marr made eight saves for the Colonels.

The Elmira College Men's Soccer team returns to action Saturday when it travels to Pittsford, NY to take on St. John Fisher starting at 1:00 p.m.
