Men's Volleyball Opens Conference Play Tonight at Home


Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College Men's Volleyball team hosts Penn State Erie-Behrend tonight at 6:00 p.m. in Speidel Gymnasium. Below is everything needed to get ready for the action.

Last Time Out: The Elmira College Men's Volleyball team dropped two matches at the Juniata Tri-Match. The Soaring Eagles fell in a heartbreaker to No. 3 Juniata 3-2 (21-25, 16-25, 25-18, 30-28, 15-11) and then got swept by Stevenson 3-0 (17-25, 22-25, 22-25).
 
Where We Sit: Elmira sits at 0-2 on the season. Tonight marks both the home-opener and the conference-opener for the Soaring Eagles.
 
Who's Hot: In the five-set loss to Juniata Erik Griffin '16 finished with a double-double tallying a match-high 20 kills to go with 11 digs.

Scouting Erie-Behrend: The Lions (1-3) sport a pair of players averaging over three kills per set. Grant Kocher who has tallied 51 kills (3.92/set) this season leads Behrend, while Ty Sheehan has floored 46 kills (3.29/set).
 
Looking Ahead: The Men's Volleyball team travels to Pittsford, NY Saturday and Sunday to take part in the Nazareth College Invitational. EC plays four matches, three of which come against ranked opponents. Saturday Elmira squares off with No. 15 Emmanuel and No. 13 MIT. Saturday the Purple and Gold will take on No. 11 Medaille.
