Camden, NJ – The Elmira College women's volleyball team (17-9, 2-2 E8) won both games 3-1 at the Rutgers-Camden Tri-Match today. The EC women competed against Hunter College (13-9) in the first matchup and then went on to play Rutgers-Camden (4-23) in the second matchup.
Match One Recap
Elmira 3, Hunter 1, 22-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-17
Taryn Rumsey '14 and
Kierstin Derr '16 led the way for the Soaring Eagles in the first matchup. Rumsey posted 13 kills, 12 digs, three aces and one solo block while Derr put in 15 kills, four digs and an assist.
Sami Hanes'16 set up the attack by chipping in 39 assists to go along with five digs and an ace in the first game.
Catherine Miller '14 produced 26 digs to lead the team defensively to go along with three aces against Hunter.
Match Two Recap
Elmira 3, Rutgers-Camden 1- 22-25, 25-20, 25-18, 31-29
Rumsey once again led the team offensively in the second match of the day after tallying 20 kills to go along with six digs and one ace. Hanes helped out with 41 assists, eight digs and one ace while Miller produced 27 digs, a solo block, and an block assist to lead the team defensively.
The Purple and Gold will host Cortland State University this Monday, October 22
