Elmira Falls to Nazareth College in the First Day of the Empire 8 Crossover

Rochester, NY -- The Elmira College women's volleyball team (19-11, 2-3 E8) fell to Nazareth College (22-6, 4-1 E8) 3-1 today in the first day of the final Empire 8 Crossover of the season. Taryn Rumsey '14 led the way for the Soaring Eagles with a team high 13 kills and three aces.
 
Elmira fell in the first set of the night 25-17, but the EC women responded back by taking the second set after going on a four point run to even the match up.  In the third and fourth sets the Purple and Gold battled with the Golden Flyers but would eventually fall by a combined five points in both sets.

Rumsey led the attack after posting 13 kills while Sami Hanes '16 set up the attack with 25 assists and added seven digs, two aces and two blocks. On the defensive side Catherine Miller '14 posted 16 digs while Paola Ortiz '16 and Amanda Blinkinsop '16 both tallied nine digs a piece.
 
Elmira will compete in the second day of the final Empire 8 Crossover of the season tomorrow when they play Utica College at 12:30 pm and Ithaca College at 3:00 pm.
