Elmira, NY -- On just three days' rest, the Elmira College men's ice hockey team will look to get above .500 as they take on ECAC West opponent Nazareth College in a home-and-home series.  The first of two games will be tonight at the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex in Rochester, NY at 7:00 p.m. while the other will take place tomorrow at the Murray Athletic Center in Pine Valley, NY at 7:00 p.m.

Home-and-Home Series
After shutting-out Fredonia State 5-0 Tuesday night, the Soaring Eagles return to their ECAC West Conference schedule with a home-and-home series against Nazareth College. EC will play the Golden Flyers Friday in Rochester, NY before returning home to the Murray Athletic Center on Saturday.

Since Head Coach Aaron Saul '98 took over the reins of his alma mater in 2009, the men's ice hockey team has embarked on nine home-and-home series. The Soaring Eagles have swept the opposing team three times, been swept by the opponent twice, and split with them four times. Last season, EC experienced all three outcomes, splitting a home-and-home series with Fredonia, sweeping Nazareth, and getting swept by Hobart College.

Last Time vs. Nazareth
The Soaring Eagles already own one victory over the Golden Flyers this season, defeating Nazareth 4-2 on November 9th at the Murray Athletic Center. Four different players tallied scores for Elmira and Sal Magliocco '17 made 42 saves, a career high for the rookie, for the victory. EC will be looking to stay undefeated against Nazareth in this weekend's home-and-home series as the Soaring Eagles search for their fifth and sixth wins in the all-time series.

Any Way You Want It
In that November 9th game against Nazareth, EC proved that their offense is more than just their number fourth ranked power play attack. On top of two power play goals, the Soaring Eagles tallied one even strength goal and one shorthanded goal on the Golden Flyers.

Top-5 Power Play Unit
The Soaring Eagles continue to boast one of the best power play units in the country, scoring 12 goals on 37 man-up opportunities. The 32.4 success rate is good enough to be ranked fourth in all of NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey.

A Night of Firsts
In Elmira's 5-0 shutout victory over Fredonia State Tuesday, three of EC's rookies recorded career firsts. Rookie defenders Nick Owen '17 and Eddie Nolan '17 scored their first career goals.  Maybe more memorable for Owen is that Tuesday's game was his first career game with the Soaring Eagles. Additionally, Sal Magliocco '17 stopped all 28 shots he faced for the first shutout of his young career.

We'll See You Next Year
Saturday's home contest vs. Nazareth will be the last time the men's ice hockey team will be at the Murray Athletic Center until January 11, 2014. The Soaring Eagles will play at the Skidmore College Invitational next weekend before taking an extended break until after the New Year.

Strale's No. 1
Jesper Strale '14 has been known to come up with timely goals throughout his career at EC and this year is no different. Strale has netted game-winners in two of EC's three wins which puts him in a tie for first in all of NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey.
