Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's basketball team will look to pick up their third consecutive victory this Saturday, December 7th when they host Clarkson University. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at EC's Speidel Gymnasium.
Starting Five
In Elmira's win over Sage, EC's staring five were responsible for 66 of the 67 points. At 98.5%, this is the highest percentage that Elmira's starters have scored since November 18, 2011, when the starting five scored all 59 of the team's points against Carnegie Mellon University.
16th in the Country
The Purple and Gold have allowed just 19.5 percent of opponent's three pointers to fall, which ranks EC near the top of all NCAA Division III women's basketball teams in that category. The Soaring Eagles lead the Empire 8 Conference in three-point defense and are 16th in the nation.
Record Watch
Jessica Zoltowski's 28 points against Sage marks her second straight game with 28, and her third game this season with 25 points or more. She is averaging an impressive 20.8 points per game and has scored 1,186 points over her career. This puts her only 16 points away from moving into second place in career points in EC's history.
Zoltowski's 104 Points
Zoltowski has scored 104 points in the first five games of this season, which is the fewest number of games needed for the senior to reach the 100-point plateau in her career. This season also marks the first time an Elmira player has reached the 100 point mark in the first five games of the season in over 12 years.
Getting to the Charity Stripe
The Soaring Eagles earned 43 free throw attempts in their win over Sage, a number that no EC team has reached in over 12 years. The next closest number of attempts is 36 which occurred twice, in the 2009-10 season in a 74-57 win over Clarkson University and again in 2006-07 in an 82-64 victory over Wilkes University.
