Box Score Buffalo, NY – The EC Men's Volleyball team downed SUNY Institute of Technology 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 25-15, 25-20) on Sunday afternoon at the United Volleyball Conference Crossover hosted by Medaille College. The Soaring Eagles improve to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the Wildcats fall to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in conference.

The Purple and Gold started off strong with a 25-17 first set win to take the early lead. EC kept the pressure on in the second set, but the Wildcats rallied back to take it 25-22 and tie up the match. In the third and fourth sets EC stepped up their offense and dominated to take the sets 25-15 and 25-20.

Ryan Gelenitis '14 led the Soaring Eagles with 13 kills, three aces and six digs. Austin Sanderl '15 and Tyler Smith '15 followed with eight kills apiece, while combining for 12 digs. Michael Vellutato '14 was key for the offense recording 37 assists, two kills and nine digs.

The EC Men's Volleyball team will return to action Wednesday, February 13 when they host No. 5 Nazareth College at 6:00 p.m. at Speidel Gymnasium.
