Elmira, NY -- The No. 11 Elmira College Men's Volleyball team hosts D'Youville in United Volleyball Conference action tonight in Speidel Gymnasium at 6:00 p.m. Below is everything needed to get ready for the action.
Last Time Out: The No. 11 Elmira College Men's Volleyball downed host Cairn 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-13, 26-24) Saturday afternoon.
Where We Sit: Elmira sits at 7-5 overall and 2-3 in United Volleyball Conference play. EC is tied for seventh place in the conference standings with D'Youville. Three of EC's five UVC matches thus far have been against teams in the AVCA Top 15 Poll.
Who's Hot: Ryan Gelenitis '14 continued his impressive play tallying 15 kills and 12 digs while hitting a remarkable .519 against Cairn.
Erik Griffin '16 recorded nine kills, eight digs and two blocks.
Scouting D'Youville: The Spartans enter tonight's contest 7-4 overall and tied for seventh with Elmira in UVC action at 2-3. D'Youville is led by seniors Chris Temple (94 kills, 51 digs) and Chris Krueger (84 kills, 41 digs, 33 blocks).
Strong Schedule: Seven of Elmira's 12 matches thus far have come against teams ranked in the AVCA Top 15 Poll. The Soaring Eagles are 3-4 in those contests.
Looking Ahead: The Men's Volleyball team travels to take part in the Baruch College Tournament in New York, NY this weekend where they will square off with three teams in the AVCA Top 15 Poll. Saturday No. 11 Elmira takes on No. 15 MIT and host No. 9 Baruch. Sunday the Purple and Gold have matches with No. 12 Stevenson and Emmanuel.
