Rochester, NY -- The Elmira College men's soccer team (4-4-0, 1-1-0 E8) let an early lead slip away as the Soaring Eagles fell on the road to Empire 8 Conference foe Nazareth College (4-4-0, 1-1-0 E8), 3-2. EC's
Ernesto Valverde '14 tallied two goals for the Purple and Gold, upping his season total to four.
Valverde gave the Soaring Eagles an early boost in today's contest, scoring the game's opening goal at the 5:46 mark of the first half. Nazareth's Simon Moundsdon responded with a goal in the 30th minute, tying the game at one apiece. The Golden Flyer score would be the last of the half as both teams entered the break even at 1-1.
Nazareth broke the tie in the 64th minute to go ahead 2-1 but Valverde would deliver the equalizer at the 75:15 mark on an assist from rookie talent
Michael Bryant '17. However, Nazareth's Moundsdon would spoil the Soaring Eagle comeback as he delivered the game winning goal in the 83rd minute, handing Elmira their first conference loss of the season.
Elmira will look to snap a two-game skid next weekend when the Soaring Eagles host St. John Fisher College in a pivotal Empire 8 match-up. Game-time is set for Satuday, October 5th at 3:00 p.m. at Campus Field in Elmira, NY.
