Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's volleyball team (3-0) picked up a pair of non-conference wins this afternoon to remain undefeated in 2013.  Elmira, who hosted today's EC Tri-Match, defeated Pitt-Bradford 3-1 in the day's opening match and followed it up with a 3-0 defeat of SUNY Brockport in the last match of the day.

Offensively, EC was led by Taryn Rumsey '14, who finished today's matches with 35 kills, upping her season total to 56.  In total, Elmira had four players with double-digit kills, including Kierstin Derr '16 who notched 20 kills this afternoon.  Sami Hanes '16 was also a big contributor on the offensive end, not with her attacking ability, but with her distribution as she recorded 67 assists.

Defensively, Elmira was phenomenal in several areas but none more than in digs as six players finished the day in double-digits.  Catherine Miller '14 spearheaded the defensive effort with a team high 34 kills while rookie talent Alicia Day '17 showed off her blocking ability by registering seven solo blocks and two assisted blocks.

Elmira will put their flawless record on the line next Friday, September 13th as they travel to Mahwah, NJ to compete in the Roadrunner Invitational, hosted by Ramapo College.  The Soaring Eagles will take on Centenary in the opening round of play at 4:00 p.m.

Elmira opened today's matches by taking on Pitt-Bradford, the same team EC edged just three days ago on the road.  This afternoon's match would be much different than their season opener as the Soaring Eagles controlled things from the start en route to a 3-1 win over the Panthers.  EC dominated the three sets they won, allowing no more than 17 points.  Rumsey and Derr led the offensive charge, combining for 29 kills while Miller and Hanes teamed up to make 28 digs.

EC carried their momentum from the early match into today's final one as they downed SUNY Brockport 3-0.  Rumsey and Derr would again be key players on the attack, combining for 26 kills; Derr was also a key contributor on defense, registering 12 digs. Hanes set-up the EC attack, recording 30 assists, bringing her season total to 108.
