Huntingdon, PA -- The Elmira College men's volleyball team (0-1) fell to No. 3 Juniata College (3-0) 0-3 in the Soaring Eagles season opener. Erik Griffin '16 and Ryan Gelenitis '14 led the Purple and Gold offensively with 10 and nine kills, respectively.

The EC men battled the in the first set, but would eventually fall 25-22. In the second set Juniata jumped to an early 11-3 lead. The Soaring Eagles tried to chip away at the lead, but ended up falling 25-17.  Elmira regrouped in the third set and found them selves tied with Juniata 13-13, but Juniata went on a 12-6 run to close out the game.

Michael Vellutato '14 helped out with 29 of the team's 30 assists. On the defensive side, Rob Shade '15 posted nine digs, Mike Ellison '16 tallied five digs and one solo block, Dylan Kuhn '16 picked up two block assists and one solo block.

The EC men will play two more games in the Juniata Tournament tomorrow, the first against No. 13 Kean University at  12:30 p.m. and Hunter College at 3:00 p.m.
