Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's basketball team will look to continue their winning ways this weekend as the Soaring Eagles hit the road for a pair of Empire 8 Conference games.  EC will take on Utica College in an 8:00 p.m. game on Friday, January 10th and will take on Alfred University the following day in a 4:00 p.m. contest.

Win Streak at Six
With a dominating 26 point win over Cazenovia College, the EC women have now won six consecutive games.  The six game run marks the longest stretch of wins by Elmira since the 2007-08 season when EC won six straight.  Before the 2007-08 season, the longest win streak came during the 2006-07 season when the Soaring Eagles went on a 13 game tear.

Best Start Since 2006-07
With a 7-2 overall record, the Soaring Eagles are off to their best start since the 2006-07 season when the Purple and Gold also opened the year 7-2.  The 2006-07 women finished the season with a 21-7 record, Elmira's third 20-plus win season and also EC's second best overall record in program history.  Prior to the 2006-07 season, Elmira went 9-2 to open the 1998-99 and 1997-98 seasons, which were both 20-plus win seasons for the Purple and Gold.

Back-to-Back Season High Shooting
Against Cazenovia, Elmira shot the ball extremely well, going 32-for-56 from the field for a season high field goal percentage of .571.  In EC's win over St. John Fisher, Elmira went .500 from the field which at the time was also a season high.  The last time EC has shot better than .571 was during the 2007-08 season against Nazareth College when the Soaring Eagles went 28-for-48 for a field goal percentage of .583.

Not Since 2012
Elmira scored 81 points against Cazenovia, the most points scored by EC in nearly two years.  The last time Elmira scored as many points was in January 10, 2012 when EC scored 83 points against Penn Tech.

Also Not Since 2012
The Soaring Eagles' 26 point margin of victory is their largest since the 2011-12 season when Elmira scored a 52-point victory over Penn Tech., 83-31.

Season High for Thannhauser
In Elmira's win over Cazenovia, Maria Thannhauser '14 scored a season high 19 points.  Maybe more impressive is that 16 of her 19 point total came during the final 4:48 of the first half, accounting for 16 of Elmira's final 20 points.

Career High for Zoltowski
Jessica Zoltowski '14 had a career night distributing the basketball against Cazenovia.  The senior guard finished the game with seven assists, a career best. Her previous career high was six, a mark she has reached in each of the previous three seasons.
