Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's volleyball team looks to make it three in row when they take on the Wildcats of Pennsylvania College of Technology in their home finale, tonight at 7:00 p.m.
Last Time OutThe Elmira College women's volleyball team is coming off their second consecutive win as the Purple and Gold defeated Alfred University, 3-1. Elmira's victory over the Saxons extended the Soaring Eagles' win streak against Alfred to 23 matches, a mark that dates back to the 2000 season.
Moving Parts, No ProblemKelsey Ross '16 has spent the majority of the 2014 season as Elmira's libero, and for good reason as she leads the team with a career-best 243 digs. However, against Alfred University, Ross made the move from libero to outside hitter, a move that paid dividends for Elmira as Ross registered a career-high 16 kills to lead EC to their second conference win of the year.
Series HistoryElmira and Penn Tech have played each other four times since their first meeting in 2011. The Soaring Eagles own a decisive 4-0 advantage in the series history. Of Elmira's four wins, three have come in the form of 3-0 victories.
Dual ThreatCourtney Gernert '15 and Samantha Pogash '18 have been the focal points of the Wildcats' offense. Gernert leads the team with 198 kills while Pogash is second with 127, making the two the only Penn Tech players with over 100 kills on the season.
Looking AheadFollowing tonight's match, the Soaring Eagles will hit the road to compete in the Hunter College Tri-Match on Saturday, October 18th. Elmira will face host Hunter College at 12:00 p.m. before facing Rutgers-Camden in the 2:00 p.m. match.
