Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's soccer team fell to visiting Hobart College, 7-0, this afternoon.
Jordan Dougherty '16 stopped 10 shots for his second double-digit save effort of the season.
The Soaring Eagles struggled to get their offense going in the first half, only taking two shots in the opening 45 minutes. Hobart netted three goals in the first 28 minutes of play, and had a few more quality opportunities to stretch the lead further, but Dougherty made a handful of saves to keep the halftime deficit at 3-0.
The Statesmen added to their lead with three additional goals in the first eight minutes of the second half to make it 6-0. Hobart then scored their final goal of the afternoon in the 73rd minute, increasing the lead to 7-0. EC pushed forward throughout the second half looking for a score, but Hobart keeper, Mike Lucas, came up with big saves to stop shots from
Donte Donegal '18 and
Tony Barraco '18 from getting through.
The Purple and Gold return to action on Saturday, October 25th when they host Nazareth College for an Empire 8 Conference game. That game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. on EC's Campus Field.
