Houghton, NY -- The Elmira College men's soccer team (1-14-2, 0-7-0 E8) fell 4-0 to Empire 8 Conference opponent Houghton College (8-8-2, 2-3-2 E8) today. Austin Mansell '16 and Jordan Dougherty '16 combined for six saves in today's action.
 
The Purple and Gold's defense held strong in the first half, only allowing six shots. Each team traded offensive opportunities but neither could find the back the back of the net as at the end of the half the Highlanders were deadlocked with the Soaring Eagles, 0-0. Mansell made two saves in the half for the EC men.
 
The Highlanders offensive pressure proved too much for the Soaring Eagles as Houghton scored four goals in the second half to take the 4-0 win. Dougherty stopped four shots in the second half.
 
Today's competition marked the final game of the 2014 season for the Purple and Gold.
