College Hockey Stats Box ScoreGeneva, NY -- The Elmira College men's ice hockey team (2-2-1, 2-2-1 ECAC West) fell to Hobart College (5-3, 4-2 ECAC West) 4-2.
Ryan deMelo '15 made 35 saves in today's action.
The Purple and Gold got on the scoreboard first just 5:18 into the first period on a power-play opportunity when
Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 and
Greg Whittle '16 passed the puck over to
Tommy Sumi '16 who punched it home to take an early 1-0 lead. deMelo made 16 saves in the first period.
The Statesmen evened things up with five minutes left in the second period on a man-up opportunity. Elmira out-shot Hobart 14-11 in the second period, but could not get one past Hobart's Lino Chimienti as the score was tied 1-1.
Hobart scored a power-play goal just 3:38 second into the third period to take a 2-1 lead over the Soaring Eagles.
Michael Collins '16 scored the equalizer goal with 3:40 left in regulation play after receiving the puck from
Eric David '15. The Statesmen answered back 1:04 later to take a 3-2 lead over the Purple and Gold. Hobart would finish the game off by scoring an empty net goal with just five seconds left as the Soaring Eagles fell, 4-2. Elmira outshot Hobart 43-39 in tonight's action.
The Purple and Gold will compete next on November 29th at Amherst College. The puck is set to drop at 3:00 p.m.
