Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's basketball team returns from their holiday break to compete in the Washington & Lee University Tournament in Lexington, VA over the next few days. EC will take on Washington & Lee in the first game of the Tournament on Monday, December 29th at 2:00 p.m. before squaring-off against either Johns Hopkins University or No. 13 Centre College the following day.
A Split in North CountryEC took a trip to North Country before the holiday break and came away with a 1-1 record. Elmira used 24 points from both
Neil Randolph '15 and
Justin Henderson '16 to defeat previously-unbeaten Clarkson University, 76-68 in overtime, before falling to St. Lawrence University the following day.
The MarksmanJustin Henderson '16 put on one of the best shooting displays any Elmira College men's basketball player has ever had against Clarkson on Friday, December 5th. Henderson made 8-of-10 from three-point range, including a perfect 7-of-7 from behind the arc in regulation. The eight made three-pointers matches the most successful three-point attempts in a single game by an individual player in the last 14 years. That occurred last season when
Josh Keys '14 went 8-of-14 from three-point range against Morrisville State.
All-Time vs. Washington & LeeEC's first game at the Washington & Lee University Tournament, against Washington & Lee, will mark the third meeting between the institutions all-time. The Soaring Eagles and the Generals split the previous two matchups.
A Program FirstNo matter who Elmira plays in the second game of the Washington & Lee University Tournament, it will be an institution that EC has never played before. Tuesday's matchup against either Centre College or Johns Hopkins University will mark the first meeting with both teams.
