Live Coverage Coverage
Elmira, NY -- With home ice throughout the ECAC West tournament on the line, the Elmira College men's ice hockey team closes out the regular season with a pair of conference games against Hobart College. The Soaring Eagles will host the Statesmen on Friday, February 21st and Saturday, February 22nd at 7:00 p.m.

It All Comes Down to This
The Soaring Eagles have put together a strong second half of the season, posting an 8-3-1 record, including a 5-1-1 mark in ECAC West play, since the start of the New Year. EC has played to a first place tie in the ECAC West with Utica College with both teams holding a 9-3-1 record entering the final weekend of the regular season. Both teams have clinched a first round bye in the ECAC West tournament, but home ice throughout the tournament is still up for grabs with two games to go.

Off the Schneid
After losing six straight games to Manhattanville College, including a 4-2 defeat in the second game of the season, EC was able to earn a tie against the Valiants with a late goal from Michael Collins '16. The tie proved to be all the momentum the men needed as the Soaring Eagles came away with a convincing 7-4 victory the following night to earn their first win over Manhattanville since January 27, 2012.

Make it Five
EC has been in the habit of breaking win streaks this season as Manhattanville became the latest program to see a winning streak against the Soaring Eagles come to an end. With the win in Saturday's series finale, Elmira has now successfully ended five teams' unbeaten streaks against them.

Late-Game Heroics
In Friday's 1-1 overtime tie against Manhattanville, Michael Collins '16 scored the game-tying goal with 1:26 remaining in regulation. This is not the first time this season that Collins has scored late in the third period as the sophomore scored the game-winning goal against Nazareth College with only 0.7 left on the clock.

Robertson Finds the Net
Jordan Robertson '16 has only seen the ice eight times this season, but he had the best performance of his career against Manhattanville on Saturday, scoring back-to-back goals in the second period to give EC a 3-1 lead, and eventually a 7-4 win. The two goals were the first of the season for the sophomore forward and the first multi-goal game of his career.

Haven't Missed a Beat
Standout goaltender Sal Magliocco '17 has missed EC's last three games as he recovers from injury.  His replacement, Ryan deMelo '15 has stepped up in Magliocco's absence, keeping the Soaring Eagles atop the ECAC West standings with a 2-1-1 record. The junior has made 153 saves, including a career-high 48 against Utica College, with a .933 save percentage while also posting a 2.74 goals against average.

Elite Scorer
Josh Burnell '15 has become one of the best scorers in the country this season as he ranks seventh in the nation with a 1.41 points per game average. Burnell has 31 points on 14 goals and 17 assists and has more than doubled his career points with this season's performance. The forward has 61 career points entering this weekend on 25 goals and 36 assists.
