Cambridge, MA -- The Elmira College men's volleyball team (7-4, 2-2 UVC) finished the UVC Crossover this weekend with a 3-1 win over Vassar College (2-5, 1-3 UVC). The Purple and Gold took the first set 25-21, but fell in the second set 20-25. The Soaring Eagles regrouped and cruised to a 25-16 win in the third set and took the fouth set 25-22.
Mike Ellison '16 and
Ryan Gelenitis '14 led the Soaring Eagles offensively with 10 kills apiece while
Erik Griffin posted nine kills in the victory.
Michael Vellutato '14 set up the offensive attack with 34 assists in the win.
Rob Shade '15 led the team defensively with 17 digs while Griffin and Ellison combined for 21 on the day.
Ryan Nerney '14, Griffin and Gelenitis all tallied three total blocks in the win.
The Soaring Eagles will compete next in the Ramapo Tri-Match on February 15
th. The Purple and Gold will square off against Brooklyn College at 12:00 p.m. and Ramapo College at 2:00 p.m.
