Field Hockey Drops a Road Game at Utica



Utica, NY -- The Elmira College field hockey team (1-6, 0-2 E8) fell to Utica College (5-1, 2-0 E8) in an Empire 8 Conference contest 8-0 today.
 
The Soaring Eagles defense held strong until 8:55 into the first half when the Pioneers slipped the ball into the cage during a scramble in front to the net to put the first goal of the day on the board. Utica kept the offensive pressure strong throughout the rest of the game as the Pioneers outshot EC, 30-0.
 
Julie Hockenberger '18 started in the goal for the EC women and posted nine saves in 43 minutes of play. Mikayla Rebusmen '17 finished the game and stopped six shots for the Purple and Gold.
 
The Soaring Eagles will be back in action Wednesday, September 24th when Elmira travels to Nazareth College in an Empire 8 Conference game. The game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
