Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College field hockey team fell to No. 18 SUNY Cortland 8-0 today. The Soaring Eagles were led by Alli Gilbert '16 and Atupele Machika '18 who both recorded a shot on goal in today's action.
 
The Red Dragons scored their first goal 7:55 into the game and ended up scoring three more times in the first half of play.
 
Cortland would increase the score to 5-0 just 3:14 into the second half and would end up netting three more goals by the end of regulation play.
 
Mikayla Rebusmen '17 started in goal for the Purple and Gold and recorded 10 saves in the first half. Julie Hockenberger '18 tallied her first minutes of play in her career and made 12 saves in the final 35 minutes of play.
 
The EC women will only have a few days rest as they will compete next this Saturday, September 6th at Delaware Valley College. The game is set to begin at 12:30 p.m.
