Field Hockey Falls on the Road to Delaware Valley College

Doylestown, PA -- The Elmira College field hockey team (0-2) fell on the road this afternoon to the Aggies of Delaware Valley College (1-2), 8-1.  Elmira's Alison Mariano '18 scored EC's lone goal of the afternoon, the first goal of her EC career.

The Soaring Eagles defense held off the Aggies' offense for the majority of the first half but Delaware Valley would score four first half goals in the final 12:33 of the half to take a commanding 4-0 halftime lead.  Delaware Valley made it 5-0 shortly after the halftime break but the Purple and Gold would trim the lead back to four on a Mariano goal at the 46:08 mark of the second half.  Fellow classmate Atupele Machika '18 recorded her first career assist on Mariano's goal.

Unfortunately for the Soaring Eagles, Mariano's goal was not enough to spark a comeback as the Purple and Gold fell to the Aggies, 8-1.  Elmira goalkeeper Mikayla Rebusmen '17 got the start this afternoon and played in all 70 minutes, making a career-high 19 saves.

Elmira will be in search of their first win tomorrow when the Soaring Eagles travel to Center Valley, PA to face DeSales University at 1:00 p.m.
