Elmira, NY -- Following a 3-0 defeat in the season opener, the Elmira College men's soccer team will look to bounce back on the road as they take on the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland on Saturday, September 6th at 7:00 p.m. For Elmira, Saturday's contest will be their road opening game of the 2014 season.
Last Time OutElmira took a 3-0 loss in their home opener against the Monarchs of King's College (PA). The Soaring Eagles played the Monarchs to a 0-0 tie through the first 45 minutes of play but would surrender three second half goals which proved to be the difference.

Scouting SUNY CortlandSUNY Cortland is in a similar situation as Elmira as both teams will be searching for their first win of the season. SUNY Cortland opened the 2014 campaign with a pair of non-conference losses to Liberty League foes St. Lawrence University and Clarkson University. However, Red Dragon fans are not in a panic as this is very familiar waters after they began the 2013 season with two losses and eventually turned things around to make the SUNYAC Tournament finals. Keep an eye on Darren McCormack, who after finishing second on the team in points last season, already has one goal to his name in 2014.
All-Time SeriesSUNY Cortland leads the all-time series, 10-3-0. Saturday's matchup will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 2004 season when the Red Dragons edged the Soaring Eagles 2-0 on Cortland's home field. Elmira's last win against Cortland dates back to the 1999 season when EC scored a 2-0 victory.
Looking AheadElmira will have three days of rest before their next contest which will be against Oneonta State on Tuesday, September 9th at 4:00 p.m. on Elmira College's Campus Field.
