Men’s Basketball Drops Season-High 85 Points In Win Over Hartwick

Oneonta, NY -- The Elmira College men's basketball team (6-7, 4-2 E8) defeated Hartwick College (8-6, 3-2 E8) in an Empire 8 Conference matchup today. Four players posted double-digit scoring with David Borelli '15 led all with a season-high 18 points and added nine rebounds and a steal in the win.

Oladapo Badmos '17 dropped 14 points and added six assists, four rebounds, and a steal while Gino Leonardi '16 posted 14 points, four assists, and three rebounds in the game. Neil Randolph '15 scored 12 points and tallied six rebounds, two assists, and a steal while Hayden Harkins '18 chipped in with nine points, two steals, and an assist today.

The Hawks kicked off the game with a 10-5 run while EC responded with a 19-8 run to take a 24-18 lead with 9:24 left in the first half. Hartwick then cut the lead to just two points until the EC men closed the first half with a 16-11 run to lead 42-33 heading into the locker room. Borelli went 6-6 from the field to score 12 points and pulled down six rebounds in the first half.

The Soaring Eagles slowing built upon their lead in the second half and even led by as high as 13 points with 1:05 remaining. The Purple and Gold finished the game off with a score of 85-73 and drained a season-high 55.2 percent from the field today. Borelli finished the game going only missing one shot as he went 9-10 from the field today.

The Purple and Gold will compete next tomorrow, January 17th at Empire 8 Conference opponent Stevens Institute of Technology at 5:00 p.m.
