College Hockey Stats Box Score

Rochester, NY -- The Elmira College men's ice hockey team (9-7-3, 3-4-2 ECAC West) fell 5-2 to ECAC West foe Nazareth College (9-7-3, 5-2-2 ECAC) today. Six different players registered a point while Ryan deMelo '15 made 26 saves in the loss.

The Golden Flyers found the back of the net just 1:16 into the first period and made it 2-0 5:44 into the first. The Soaring Eagles held strong the rest of the period as the scored remained 2-0 after the first stanza. Nazareth held the shot advantage in the first with a 13-8 mark.

Nazareth would once again get an early goal in the second period as the Golden Flyers increased their lead to 3-0 3:24 into the second. With 8:16 left in the second period Greg Whittle'16 and Michael Collins '16 got the puck to Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 who was able to punch the puck into the back of the net to trail, 3-1. The Soaring Eagles outshot the Nazareth 17-10 in the period.

The Golden Flyers increased their lead to 4-1 with 7:19 left in the third while EC responded just 14 seconds later after Jeremy Marginsky '18 found the back of the net. Eddie Nolan '17 and Rob Simpson '16 were credited with the assists on the play. Nazareth would tally one more goal with 2:50 left in regulation. As time expired, the Soaring Eagles fell, 5-2. Elmira once again held the shot advantage in the third, outshooting Nazareth, 10-8.

Elmira will compete next tomorrow, January 31st at 7:00 p.m. when the EC men take on Nazareth College in another ECAC West matchup.
