Men’s Volleyball Splits Matches in Opening Round of Thiel College Tournament

Greenville, PA -- The 12th ranked Elmira College men's volleyball team (4-4) split a pair of matches in the opening day of play at the Thiel College Tournament.  Elmira opened the day with a 3-0 win over Penn State Altoona before falling in the nightcap by an identical score to Lakeland College.
 
Third-year outside hitter Erik Griffin '16 led Elmira in kills in both matches, logging 15 and 14, respectively.  Setting up the Elmira attack was Carlos Faccio '16 who amassed 59 assists in the two matches, including a 35-assist effort in Elmira's win over Penn State Altoona.
 
The Soaring Eagles resume play at the Thiel College Tournament tomorrow, February 1st when Elmira takes on Mount St. Joseph University and Fontbonne University. Tomorrow's matches are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively.
