College Hockey Stats Box Score

Geneseo, NY -- The Elmira College men's ice hockey team (6-4-2) defeated SUNY Geneseo (6-5-2) 3-2 today. Sal Magliocco '17 made 32 saves today while Greg Whittle '16 tallied two assists in the win.
 
The Geneseo Knights found the scoreboard first 7:02 left in the first period and would eventually be the only team that would find the back of the net before heading into the first intermision. Elmira outshot the Knights 15-12 in the first period of play.
 
With only 55 seconds left in the second period, Whittle passed the puck over to Eric David '15 who was in the middle of the blue line. David then sent to puck over to Alexander Taulien '17 who was in the left side faceoff circle and one timed the puck past Knights' goaltender to tie the game up at 1-1. The Purple and Gold edged Geneseo 11-10 in the second period.
 
The Soaring Eagles started the third period off on a man-down situation. That would not stop the EC men as Andrew Ciampichini '15 found the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead just 28 seconds into the third period. With 8:33 seconds left in the third, Jarryd ten Vaanholt '15 slipped the puck past Geneseo's netminder after receiving the puck from Michael Collins '16 and Whittle to take a 3-1 lead. With 2:23 seconds left in the game, the Knights pulled their goalie to try to even up the two-goal deficit. With a 1:58 remaining, Geneseo scored to make it a 4-3 game, but would end up running out time before finding the equalizer. Magliocco made 11 of his 32 saves in the third period.
 
The Soaring Eagles will compete next tomorrow when the EC men host Brockport State at 7:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center.
