Hoboken, NJ -- The Elmira College women's soccer team suffered a 9-0 loss on the road against Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday at the De Baun Athletic Complex.
The Soaring Eagles and the Ducks played to a 0-0 tie through the first 33 minutes of action. However, beginning in the 34th minute, Stevens scored four goals in a span of less than five minutes to take the lead and never look back.
Trailing by five at the halftime intermission, the
Katie D'Amico '16 and
Lindsay Proulx '18 looked to get the EC offense on the board with shots on goal in the 49th and 50th minutes, but Stevens goalkeeper Evelyn Ting was there for the stops.
Niki Lemper '17 tried to cut into the deficit with shots in the 63rd and 80th minutes, both of which were saved by Ting.
Reigning Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week,
Gabe Carmona '18, made a season-high 13 saves in 72:33 minutes of action between the posts for EC.
Turning PointElmira and Stevens were tied through the first 33 minutes of play, with Carmona making six of her 13 saves in the span to keep the Ducks scoreless. In the 34th minute, the Ducks began a fury of offense that led to a four-goal lead by the 38th minute.
