Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's basketball team (9-14, 5-10 E8) fell, 66-43, against Ithaca College (21-4, 15-1 E8) in an Empire 8 Conference contest today. Alex Balara '15 led the Soaring Eagles with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the game.
 
Danielle Cleary '18 was the only other EC player to record double-digits as she dropped 10 points and added three rebounds. Meghan Loya '16 chipped in with nine points, nine boards, one assist, and one steal while Makinsey Carolus '18 tallied five points, two rebounds, and a steal in her first career start.
 
The Soaring Eagles struggled in the first half, making just 13.0 percent field goals (3-23). Cleary scored the first bucket of the game for the EC women to go up 2-0, however, the Bombers would respond with the games next 14 points. Cleary broke EC's scoring drought after making two free-throws in a row. Ithaca finished the half with a 13-7 run to lead 27-11 heading into the locker room.
 
The Bombers kicked off the second half with a 6-0 run to lead 33-11. Elmira shot better in the second half, nearly doubling their field goal percent from the first with 25.9 percent (7-27). However, the deficit was too much to overcome as the Soaring Eagles fell, 66-43.
 
The Purple and Gold will compete next tomorrow, February 21st at 2:00 p.m. against Alfred University in the Soaring Eagle's regular season finale.
