Rochester, NY -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team (0-3) fell 16-5 to the University of Rochester (4-1) on the road today.
Kelsey Quail '17 led the Soaring Eagles with a career-high four points off one goal and three assists.
The Yellowjackets scored the game's first two goals 1:35 into the first half to take a quick 2-1 lead.
Moorea Spoljaric '16 responded just 23 seconds later to trail, 2-1. Rochester responded with six straight goals to take an 8-1 lead over the next 3:26.
Marisa Carr '18 passed the ball over to over to Quail who scored her goal with 10:16 left in the first half to trail 8-2. The Yellowjackets ended the first half with three more goals to head into the locker room with an 11-2 lead.
Just 3:19 seconds into the second half,
Kylie Connell '17 scored after Quail got the ball to her to trail 11-3. Rochester then scored four goals to take a 15-3 lead before Connell and
Laura Powell '16 scored back-to-back goals with Quail assisting on both plays. The Yellowjackets would end up scoring one more goal before the end of the game to win, 16-5.
Lindsay Wargo '17 made 12 saves for the Purple and Gold today.
The Soaring Eagles will compete next on March 21st when the EC women travel to take on Houghton College for Elmira's first Empire 8 Conference matchup of the season.
