Corning, NY -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team (0-5, 0-2 E8) fell 19-4 to Empire 8 Conference opponent Ithaca College (3-4, 1-1 E8) today.
Marissa Mongillo '15 led the Soaring Eagles with two assists while
Lindsay Wargo '17 made seven saves in today's action.
The Bombers scored seven goals over the first 7:26 in the first period to take an early 7-0 lead.
Kylie Connell '17 received a pass from Mongillo and scored 21 seconds later to trail Ithaca 7-1. The Bombers scored two more goals before
Ashton Hogan '15 took the ball down the field and scored with 18:42 left in the first half to trail 9-2. Ithaca scored four more goals before the end of the first half to take a13-2 lead heading into halftime.
Marisa Carr '18 and
Moorea Spoljaric '16 both scored goals over the first 4:27 of the second half to cut Ithaca's lead to 13-4. However, the Bombers would finish the game with six more goals to win, 19-4.
The Purple and Gold will compete next on March 27th when the EC women travel to Hartwick College for an Empire 8 Conference matchup at 4:00 p.m.
