Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College softball team (8-10, 1-8 E8) dropped a pair of games to Utica College (14-14, 6-6 E8) today. The Pioneers won the first game of the double header 11-2 and the second 14-0, both in five innings.

Game One: Utica 11, Elmira 2 (F/5)The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning, however, EC answered back in the second when Condidorio singled to left field and
Hannah Lundgren '18 scored to tie the game up at 1-1. The Pioneers put two more runs on the board on the top of the third before Carlin doubled in the bottom of the third, sending
Ashley Palmer '16 home to trail Utica, 3-2 after three innings. Utica then took control of the game as the Pioneers scored six more runs and didn't allow EC to score again to win the first game, 11-2.
Game Two: Utica 14, Elmira 0 (F/5)Utica used the momentum of the first game into the second game of the double header as the Pioneers took an early 7-0 lead after the first inning and added six more runs in the fourth inning. Elmira left five total runners on base in the second game, including two in the bottom of the fifth.
The Purple and Gold will compete next tomorrow, April 25th when the EC women travel to Ithaca College for an Empire 8 Conference double header beginning at 1:00 p.m.
