Annandale-on-Hudson, NY -- The Elmira College women's soccer team traveled to Bard College Sunday afternoon in search of its first win of the 2015 campaign, but the Raptors clung to their first-half goal to beat the Soaring Eagles, 1-0, at the Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex.

Bard senior midfielder Abbey Labrecque scored the only goal of the game in the 34th minute as she deposited a header inside the post and past Elmira goalkeeper Amanda Banner '17. Bard freshman Caroline Cluck earned an assist on the play with the cross to the center of the box to set up Labrecque's fifth goal of the season.

Although the Soaring Eagles limited the Raptors to one goal, the EC offense was once again held in check by the opposition. The loss marked the third time in four games that the Purple and Gold have been held scoreless this season.

Elmira fired six of its nine shots in the second half as it searched for the equalizer. Kerri Clark '18 and Niki Lemper '17 each missed with shots wide of the goal in the 53rd minute and a shot by Amy Sullivan '18 in the 58th minute was saved by Bard goalie Shane Crowley. Crowley earned another save when she denied Kimi Girmus '16 in the 86th minute.

Turning Point
The Bard offense came out firing early, forcing Banner to make her first save only 34 seconds into the game. In fact, four of Banner's five saves came in the first 16 minutes. EC was able to keep the Raptors off the board until the 34th minute. Labrecque had a shot blocked by the Soaring Eagles' defense, but only 16 seconds later, she netted the game-winner.
