Elmira, NY -- Coming off a 2-0 road defeat at the hands of RIT last Tuesday, the Elmira College men's soccer team will look to turn a corner this Saturday, September 19th, as the Soaring Eagles welcome Stevens Institute of Technology to Campus Field.  Saturday's Empire 8 Conference opener is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
Elmira was looking to pick up their second consecutive win of the season, as the Soaring Eagles traveled to Rochester, NY, to face the Tigers of RIT.  The Soaring Eagles would find themselves in an early hole, as EC conceded the game's opening goal in the 23rd minute on an RIT penalty kick.  Elmira held off the Tiger attack for most of the second half, but RIT would strike for one more score in the 75th minute to seal a 2-0 victory.  Shots in the contest were fairly even, with RIT holding a slight 15-14 edge in attempts.  Elmira netminder Kevin Huggins '16 made three saves in 90 minutes of action.

Series History
The Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology own a decisive 9-1 lead in the all-time series, one that dates back to the 2007 season when Stevens joined the Empire 8 Conference.  Stevens has won the last seven meetings, with Elmira's lone victory occurring in the 2009 season, when the Purple and Gold handed the Ducks just their second regular season loss in a five-year span.

Bryant Claims Weekly Awards
Elmira's Michael Bryant '17 has had a great start to the 2015 season, logging six goals in five contests, including a four-game goal streak to open the year.  For his efforts, Bryant was named the Empire 8 Conference and the Corvias ECAC Upstate Offensive Player of the Week.

One of the Nation's Bests
When looking around the country for an elite striker, you need to look no further than pitch of Campus Field.  EC's Bryant owns the nation's fourth-highest goals per game average and his six goals on the season ranks seventh in the country as well.

Scouting Stevens
The Ducks enter tomorrow'sconference opener with a 4-1 overall record after downing Vassar College in Stevens' most recent contest.  Stevens has played two of their five games on the road this season and are 1-1 in those games, with their latest such contest being a win against the Brewers of Vassar. Carson Pryor scored twice against the Brewers, increasing his season total to five goals, a team-high for the two-time Empire 8 All-Conference First Teamer.  Pryor's scoring this season has taken place exclusively in two games, including a three-goal effort against Haverford College.  Defensively, Stevens has relied on the play of Mike Renna between the posts.  Renna has played in every minute for Stevens this season, making 12 saves in five contests while registering a 4-1 record.

Looking Ahead
Saturday's contest is the beginning of a four-game homestand for the Soaring Eagles.  Elmira returns to Campus Field on Tuesday, September 22nd, as the Purple and Gold welcome Alfred State for a non-conference matchup.  The opening kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
