Elmira, NY -- Elmira College softball continued its stretch of 10 straight home games this evening with an Empire 8 doubleheader with the conference's top team, Ithaca College. The No. 21 nationally-ranked Bombers picked up a pair of wins at Eldridge Park Stadium, earning a 10-1 win in game one, before claiming a 6-0 shutout victory in the nightcap.
 
Ithaca's bats rang loudly in the early goings of today's first game, as the Bombers scored seven runs in the first three innings. Ithaca scored twice in the second inning, before blowing the game open with a five-spot in the third. Elmira answered in the bottom half of the third inning on an error that scored Julianne Heggie '16, but that was all the offense EC could muster up, as the Bombers scored three additional runs to claim a 10-1 win in a five inning shortened game.
 
Game two saw the two teams play a full seven innings, but the result would be the same, as the Bombers blanked the Soaring Eagles, 6-0. Ithaca scored all of its runs in four of the first five innings, while Allison Macari set the pace in the pitcher's circle, striking out seven batters in a full 7.0 innings of work.
 
Emily Carlin '17 was the game two starter for Elmira and also went the distance, tossing 7.0 innings. Carlin struck out three batters and allowed just three earned runs in the contest.

  • Ithaca scored 10 runs on 10 hits, while Elmira scored one time on four base-knocks.
