POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's soccer team put its three-game unbeaten streak on the line on a warm and sunny afternoon in Poughkeepsie, New York, as the Soaring Eagles clashed with Vassar College in a non-league matchup. Lopsided totals in shots and corners helped the Brewers secure their sixth win of the year, as the Purple and Gold fell on the road by a 3-0 final.
Vassar peppered Elmira with plenty of shots in today's contest, 18 to be exact, with nine of those attempts making their way on frame. The Brewers, who entered the contest as the seventh-ranked team in the East Region according the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, improved to 5-0-1 on its home field with the win.
Vassar's Henrik Olsson broke through for the game's opening score in the 20th minute, a tally that would up through to the halftime break. Mattie Mrlik and Jose Novas added insurance goals in the second half in the 54th and 74th minute marks, respectively.
EC nearly put a goal up on the scoreboard in the 81st minute, when
Andrew Spitznogle '19 fired a shot that looked like it had a chance to beat Vassar goalkeeper Will Marment. However, Spitznogle's attempt caromed off the post, as the Brewers marched away with a three-goal win.

Haruka Okamoto '18 made his third start of the season in goal and stopped a career-high six shots.
Turning Point
Elmira entered the halftime break trailing the Brewers by just one goal and managed to produce four shots in the opening 45 minutes. However, Vassar upped the pressure in the second half and locked Elmira down defensively, limiting the Soaring Eagle offense to just one second-half shot attempt, while the Brewers scored twice on their 10 attempts in the second stanza.
