ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Elmira College women's volleyball will resume action on Tuesday, October 10, when the Soaring Eagles flock to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to take on the Wildcats of the Pennsylvania College of Technology. Opening serve for the non-conference match is slated for 7:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Soaring Eagles rebounded from a straight-sets loss to St. John Fisher College to defeat Utica College in four sets at Saturday's Empire 8 Conference Crossover, hosted by the Pioneers. EC won the first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-21, before falling to Utica, 29-27, in an exhilarating third set. However, the Purple and Gold rebounded to take the decisive fourth set, 25-19. As a team, the Soaring Eagles tossed up 14 aces, more than quadruple their total from the loss to the Cardinals earlier that afternoon. Kasey Campbell '19 and Taylor Kaznowski '19 paced EC with four aces apiece, while Campbell added a match-high 26 digs and Kaznowski posted a season-high 53 assists. Natalie Schieder '19 led all hitters with 25 kills in addition to her 16 digs, and Tiara John '19 produced 15 kills, her second-highest total this season.

MS. 2000
Over the weekend, Kaznowski became just the eighth setter in Elmira's storied history to accumulate over 2,000 career assists. The junior from Hamburg, New York, ranks eighth all-time with 2,067 assists and needs 202 more to tie former teammate Sami Hanes '16 for sixth place. With a 9.07 assists per set average – a new single-season career high – Kaznowski ranks second in the Empire 8, and her season-high 53 assists from Saturday's win over Utica is the second-highest single-match total by any setter in the conference this fall.

SCOUTING PENN COLLEGE
The Wildcats have dropped four consecutive matches in straight sets and enter tonight's match with a 2-10 overall record. Penn College is 1-4 against North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponents, with their last win coming against conference foe SUNY Cobleskill on September 30. Offense has been a struggle for the Wildcats, who possess a .032 attack percentage. They registered a season-high 40 kills and a .140 percentage on September 2 in their first victory of the year, a 3-1 defeat of Clarks Summit. Jordyn Smeltzer paces Penn College with 57 kills, 13 of which came in the victory over Clarks Summit, and she is second on the squad with 3.08 digs per set. Senior setter Sophie Coldsmith leads the Wildcats with 4.05 assists per set and 22 aces, while proving to be a valuable hitter with a .213 attack percentage.

SERIES HISTORY
Elmira and Penn College have met on seven previous occasions and the Soaring Eagles have come out on top each time. EC and the Wildcats have squared off every season since 2011, and in that span the Soaring Eagles have won 21-of-25 sets. Last season's matchup was the closest in the all-time series, as Elmira overcame an early two-sets-to-none deficit to beat the Wildcats in five in mid-September at Speidel Gymnasium.

LOOKING AHEAD
Following tonight's match, the Purple and Gold will return to North Country for the second time this season, this time to participate in the Roos Classic, hosted by SUNY Canton. The EC women open the weekend tournament on Saturday, October 14, with a 6:30 p.m. match against the host Kangaroos.
