Elmira was picked fourth in the inaugural United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, this after going 8-16-1 with a young squad last season. While both of this weekend's opponents were included inside the top-10 in the USCHO.com Division III Preseason Poll, EC also garnered some national recognition and received 10 votes. It marks the first time that the Soaring Eagles were mentioned in the national preseason rankings since 2015-16, when the Elmira men collected a single vote prior to the season. A trio of Soaring Eagles – Blake O'Neill '19, Connor Powell '20 and Matthew Cuce '20 – were named to the UCHC's Preseason Watch List on Monday and will look to guide Elmira to a strong start to the new year on home ice against its former conference rival.
