ELMIRA, N.Y. – Elmira College Director of Athletics, Rhonda Faunce, has announced the hiring of Briley Lawson as the College's Director of Sports Information. Lawson arrives at Elmira with extensive experience in athletic communications, creative media, and event management at both the NCAA Division II and NAIA levels.
A native of Georgia, Lawson most recently served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where she was the primary contact for men's and women's lacrosse, beach volleyball, and men's soccer. In that role, she managed live broadcasts, supervised student-workers, and assisted in hosting the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join Elmira College and serve as the Director of Sports Information!", said Lawson. "I'm excited to collaborate with the coaches, staff, and student-athletes to highlight the programs at Elmira while enhancing visibility to the community and beyond!"
Prior to her time at PBA, Lawson was the Assistant Sports Information Director at the University of the Cumberlands, where she managed multiple sports, designed graphics and media guides, coordinated national tournament coverage, and oversaw the 2024 NAIA Opening Round Softball Tournament in addition to traveling with teams for postseason play. She also served as a Sports Information Graduate Assistant at Truett McConnell University, where she worked with more than 20 varsity programs while completing her Master of Business Administration following a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science.
"We are thrilled to welcome Briley to Elmira College," said Faunce. "Her combination of hands-on communications experience, creativity, and national involvement through CSC will continue to elevate our coverage and promotion of Soaring Eagles athletics across the board."
In addition to her on-campus roles, Lawson is an active member of College Sports Communicators (CSC), where she has contributed to the U Committee and Continuing Education Committee. She was a panelist at the 2025 CSC Unite Convention, discussing crossover content strategies, and served as a moderator for the CSC "Game Plan for Content" webinar. Lawson was also recognized as a finalist for the 2025 CSC Photographer of the Year, finishing ninth overall and first in the NAIA division.
A former collegiate softball standout at Truett McConnell from 2019-2023, Lawson earned multiple First Team All-Conference and NFCA First Team honors while serving as a team captain.
