Elmira, N.Y. – Elmira College Athletics has announced an updated Media Policy establishing guidelines and procedures for outside media members, photographers, videographers, broadcasters, livestreamers, and content creators covering Soaring Eagles athletic events.
The policy is designed to provide clear expectations for media access while prioritizing the safety and privacy of student-athletes, coaches, staff, officials, spectators, and event personnel.
Beginning with the 2026-27 academic year, all outside media members seeking access to Elmira College athletic events must receive approval and credentials from the Elmira College Sports Information Office prior to attending an event. Media credential requests must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance and are issued on an event-by-event basis. Approval is subject to available space, event requirements, existing media agreements, and Elmira College policies.
Credentialed media members must check in with Sports Information upon arrival and follow all event-specific instructions regarding designated media areas, photography locations, interview access, and facility restrictions. Credentials are non-transferable and are valid only for the event for which they were issued.
The policy also establishes guidelines for photographers and videographers, including designated areas of access and restrictions regarding playing surfaces, team areas, locker rooms, athletic training spaces, and other restricted areas. Media members are expected to operate in a manner that does not interfere with competition or event operations.
All interviews with Elmira College student-athletes and coaches must be coordinated through the Sports Information Office unless otherwise arranged in advance. Access to practices, locker rooms, team areas, and other restricted spaces is not guaranteed and requires specific approval.
Organizations or individuals seeking to broadcast or livestream Elmira College athletic events must receive separate approval from the Sports Information Office. A standard media credential does not automatically grant broadcasting, livestreaming, or recording rights.
The policy also outlines expectations for social media and content creators, including restrictions on commercial, promotional, and sponsored content involving Elmira College student-athletes, teams, and events. Any such content must comply with applicable NCAA, conference, Elmira College, and NIL requirements.
"Elmira College Athletics is committed to providing members of the media with appropriate access to cover our student-athletes and teams while maintaining a safe and professional environment for everyone involved," said
Briley Lawson, Director of Sports Information. "This policy provides clear expectations for outside media and content creators while allowing us to better coordinate access and ensure the best possible experience for our student-athletes, coaches, staff, and visiting media."
