ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's basketball team will look to extend its six-game win streak to start the 2017-18 season on Tuesday, December 5, when the Soaring Eagles welcome Clarks Summit University to Speidel Gymnasium. The non-conference bout is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.

A LOOK AT LAST WEEK
  • The EC women went 3-0 in a trio of road non-conference contests last week to improve to a perfect 6-0 on the year.
  • The Soaring Eagles began the week with a 63-49 victory over Penn College on Monday, November 27.
  • Danielle Cleary paced the Purple and Gold with a season-high 22 points against the Wildcats.
  • In the bout, Cleary became just the fourth player in program history to score 1,200-career points.
  • In EC then topped the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland by five points, 82-77, on Thursday, November 7.
  • This game was dominated by a career performance from Sally Hogan, who posted career highs in both points (24) and rebounds (12).
  • Elmira wrapped up the week by earning a 61-55 comeback victory over Wells College on Sunday afternoon.
  • The Soaring Eagles Trailed the Express, 45-43, heading into the fourth quarter, marking the first time EC has trailed after three quarters this season.

EFFICIENT AT THE LINE
  • Through six contests, EC has taken an E8-leading 154 free throws and has converted 112 of them (72.7 percent).
  • Effectiveness at the charity stripe has been crucial to the team's success, as it has accounted for 28.6 percent of the team's 392 points scored this year.
  • Rachel Vespucci (4.2), Lauren Franklin (4.0) and Lindsey Heaton (3.5) rank first, second and third on the team in made free-throws per game, respectively.
  • Heaton paces the team with an 84.0 shooting percentage from the line, which ranks fourth in the E8.
  • Green is not far behind, as she is second on the team with an 83.3 shooting percentage from the charity stripe.

SCOUTING CLARKS SUMMIT
  • The Defenders have begun the 2017-18 campaign 0-5 overall and 0-2 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
  • Clarks Summit enters Tuesday's bout riding a 34-game losing streak, which dates back to the 2015-16 season.
  • In conference play, the Defenders have had two close calls, suffering single-digit defeats to Bryn Athyn (50-45) and Cedar Crest (61-54), the former coming in overtime.
  • Clarks Summit has employed the same starting five in all of its games this season, with each player averaging at least 36.6 minutes per game.
  • Randie Traxler, a freshman from Dublin, Georgia, is second on the team in scoring with a 17.0 points per game average.
  • Traxler has played every minute during her rookie season, which places her first in the CSAC in minutes played per contest (41.0).
